Ethics, Standards and Privacy

Registered Membership

I am a fully registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Further information if required can be found at www.BACP.co.uk This means I practice in accordance with the ethical guidelines outlined by the BACP, so you can expect good standards.

It is also a requirement of the BACP that all registered members discuss their client work with a qualified, experienced supervisor, to ensure that the counsellor is providing the highest standard of support for the client and adhering to ethical working. Client anonymity is upheld. I attend regular supervision in line with the guidance.

Confidentiality 

Anything discussed in a room, telephone or video call will be completely confidential between you and me. There are, however, instances in which I may need to breach confidentiality. These instances for example would include: If I was concerned about your welfare, such as harm to yourself or harm to others, money laundering, acts of terrorism etc. Any concerns would be discussed with you beforehand. Before confidentiality is breached, I would seek advice from my supervisor and the BACP, so we are both protected.

As mentioned, it is a requirement of the BACP that all counsellors discuss their client work with a qualified, experienced supervisor, to ensure that the counsellor is providing the highest standard of support for the client and adhering to ethical working. While clients are discussed in my supervision, the focus is on my work as a counsellor. Your confidentiality is still maintained during my supervision sessions. PRIVACY

HealingwithJade cares about your privacy. You can be reassured that your personal information will be kept safe and secure, only being used for the purpose it was given for.

HealingwithJade adheres to the current data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679) (The GDPR), The Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003. Healing with Jade is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ZB607937).

Any data collected regarding your personal information will be locked away and processed in accordance with data protection (GDPR). You have the legal right to request any personal data held by HealingwithJade. If required, please submit a written request to: bookings@healingwithjade.co.uk. If your request cannot be upheld, you will be given an explanation.

The GDPR states that there must be a lawful basis for processing and holding your personal data. Healing with Jade will only share your information when you have given permission. However, there may be instances when we would need to process your information such as any legal obligations/legitimate interest. A full HealingwithJade Privacy Statement can be provided on request.
